Which Team Are You On?
Personally, I have definitely played on both teams. If you can admit it, I think we all have. I would have to say out of faith vs. fear, my least favorite is FEAR.
But what is fear - really? I’ve seen it best described as False Evidence that Appears Real. It’s totally the complete opposite of faith. And its main job is to handicap us mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Actually, if we’re not careful and watchful, fear can literally creep in when we least expect it, and before you know, its got us! Just like that! I don’t know about you, but I’ve discovered that it’s hard to cope when fear of the unknown gets the best of me. Yet, I’ve also discovered that fear can only consume us if we allow it.
That’s why we have to come to grips with the fact that as soon as the "what ifs” or "could ifs" come into play, we have to immediately tackle those thoughts; run to God for help, and allow him to transform our minds. We also have to bring those imaginative thoughts captive as 2 Corinthians 10:5 states and boldly speak out against fear!
Now, let's put the spirit of fear on the sidelines for a moment and play on the team of faith.
So, what is faith? Well, the Bible tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (see Hebrews 11:1). But how can we believe if we don’t see? I know that can seem difficult and challenging at first glance, but without faith, we will not be able to believe the best that God has for us.
Actually, the challenges that we experience test our faith in God. I know for me personally, the Lord has definitely put me through several tests in my life. And did I pass them all? Nope! Yet, none of us like to go through tests and trials. However, they are required to develop our strength and character.
In closing, I want to encourage you to not be controlled or consumed by the fear in your mind. Instead, choose to have faith over fear. Be led by the dreams in your heart. Have faith to believe the impossible. And let's play to WIN and leave the rest up to GOD!
