Fall is in the air! Bring on the crisp, cool breeze and pumpkin spice lattes! It’s my favorite time of year.
No more hot pink halter tops with ripped jean shorts. It’s time to make room for my brown boots and burnt orange sweaters. I'm ready to put an end to this “Hot Girl Summer.” I enjoy sitting on my porch sipping pumpkin spice while relishing in the beauty of autumn, watching the leaves change to red, orange, and gold.
As the leaves transition during this season, I like to take this time to sit back, relax, and reflect. During my reflection process, I embrace the changes I've made from the beginning of the year until now. How many of us can look back at the beginning of 2019 and say we have made positive life changes? Whether these changes were in your health, relationships, attitude, or personal growth, embrace them. The smallest steps of growth are worth celebrating.
I am certainly not the same woman I was earlier this year. You're probably saying, “How is that so?” One word—change. Often, we don't realize which aspects of our lives need transformation. I'm not saying I’m perfect, but I didn't see a need to change anything about myself. It wasn't until I reached a dark place in my life that I realized I was a hot mess! I was depressed and unhappy with myself and the woman I was becoming.
I decided to get out of my own way and do whatever I needed to become the best version of myself. I am no longer that girl who sought validation from others. I am no longer the girl with low self-esteem. I am no longer the girl whose life seemed meaningless. Now, I am a more confident, fulfilled, and happy woman. My encounter with darkness and depression was needed. It opened the door for growth in my life. I'm so glad I took the time to reconnect with God, rediscover myself, and realign my purpose.
If your inner self is speaking, telling you it’s time to change certain areas about yourself, do not resist it. It may seem scary and uncomfortable at first because you aren't sure where it may lead you, but I encourage you to grow so you can glow! Sis, embrace this new season. It will be worth it!
